Ilda Caeiro-Azzam

Introducing our Elite Member: Ilda Caeiro-Azzam, MSW, RSW
Clinical Director | Social Worker | Psychotherapist
Founder, ICA Counselling & Supervision

Ilda Caeiro-Azzam is the Founder and Clinical Director of ICA Counselling & Supervision, a trauma-informed and culturally responsive mental health practice serving individuals, couples, families, and communities across Ontario and virtually throughout Canada.

With over 20 years of clinical experience across hospital, community, and private practice settings, Ilda brings seasoned leadership, depth, and compassion to her work. She is a Master of Social Work–trained Registered Social Worker, licensed and insured in Canada, and fluent in English and Portuguese.

Her expertise includes supporting survivors of intimate partner violence, refugees and newcomers, individuals living with chronic illness and injury, trauma-exposed professionals, and members of marginalized communities.

Ilda works from a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and social justice–oriented framework, integrating evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches. Her philosophy centers on safety, dignity, and empowerment — recognizing that healing is not only personal, but relational and systemic.

Beyond psychotherapy, Ilda is a dedicated clinical supervisor and mentor, developing structured supervision programs that emphasize ethical practice, clinical excellence, and cultural humility. She is deeply committed to strengthening accessible mental health systems and expanding care for underserved populations.

Through ICA, she actively partners with nonprofit organizations and community agencies to provide psychotherapy, outreach, education, and pro bono initiatives — particularly for refugees, newcomers, Muslim women, and other marginalized communities.

Ilda believes healing is both an act of courage and an act of resistance — and that no one should have to navigate trauma alone.
